EVENTS in MILFORD HAVEN
May 18th-19th 2013
Despite the uncertainty concerning progress on the RBC, a number of boats made it to Dale where the weather was sunny and much warmer than previously. People had a chance to rest up, and dry out. For proof see below - Sue Lewis displaying a suitably langorous pose on Bonify.
A rapidly arranged, but excellent Crew Supper involved 40 people and turned into a night of revelry, laughter and music, including raucous sea shanties, clever and tasteful ditties (to wit Alistair Randall's interpretation of Mozart's Horn Concerto a la Flanders and Swan), and international acts (a very professional duo of Else from Windbreker, and David Walters of Syene) as well as a clever monologue . For reason I will never fully understand, Delilah had an encore. Cowes be warned!
The Bristol Channel Gaffers' Token (a half-hull of a Bristol Channel Pilot Cutter), was entrusted to BCA OGA member Patrick Vyvyan-Robinson and 'Capraia', a 28' Heard Falmouth Workboat (see below), in a suitably formal presentation by Viv Head, the BCA Commodore.
All in all a stop-over (which was never intended to be more than a simple 'Meet and Greet') turned into an great event, thanks due not least to the efforts of Dale Yacht Club for whom nothing seemed too much trouble, great weather and camaraderie.
Every good wish to all who visited, and others on the RBC for the successful completion of this bold challenge.
