OGA50 EVENTS IN NEWCASTLE

Newcastle on Tyne Quayside   July 5th - 7th 2013

 

NORTH EAST MARITIME FESTIVAL

CELEBRATING THE OGA GOLDEN JUBILEE

IN SUPPORT OF THE ROYAL NATIONAL LIFEBOAT INSTITUTION

A gathering of gaff rigged and other interesting sailing vessels of many types & sizes from all around the British Isles and the continent.

 

Programme 

Friday 5th July 2013

         Boats assemble Newcastle upon Tyne Quayside marina.

         8pm onwards – informal party with buffet supper and music by ‘Voice Male’                        

                                        at the ‘Quayside’ pub.

Saturday 6th July 2013

         Morning – boats assembly continues.

         Afternoon – fleet dressed overall; judging of best presented boats.

                                Traditional (oar & sail) boat handling & working demonstrations

         Evening (8pm onwards) – another informal party for crew & guests at the

                                ‘Quayside’; music by ‘Rothbury Hills Folk’, buffet.

Sunday 7th July 2013

         Morning –  Blessing of the fleet, 1030am.

                            Displays on Copthorne Hotel Terrace

         Noon -  Reception at Copthorne Hotel (atrium & terrace) –

                      Presentations,  launch of NE Maritime Heritage Convention.

         Afternoon Fleet departs.
